Most Powerful Reason
We are created in the image of God.
"Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. . . . the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." (Gen 1:26, 27; 2:7 NIV)
Because of our rebellion against His will and way we are doomed.
" The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." (Gen 2:15-17 NIV) "For the wages of sin is death, . . ."(Rom 6:23 NIV)
But God has come to our rescue.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16, 17 NIV)
"He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. --(John 1:11 - 13 NIV)
"For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." (Rom 8:13, 14 NIV)
This is the power of the gospel, to liberate us from life destroying ways so that in our bodies we will glorify our Maker and Redeemer. "Don't you know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?" (1 Cor. 3:16 NIV) TOP
